Olubukola Akinpelu, the fast-rising Nigerian content creator better known as Mylifeassugar, has recounted her experience being part of the US navy.

The US-based entertainer, who also doubles as a nurse, revealed this in a chat with TheCable Lifestyle.

Mylifeassugar said being in the military can teach one some of life’s most important lessons.

The content creator, who has over 120,000 Instagram followers, said many didn’t know she has been an American navy officer.

On why she joined the military, Mylifeassugar said: “I wanted to serve my country. The process is rigorous, but the most important steps and things to know are that you must be a permanent resident or a US citizen to join.

“It is also helpful to learn how to swim before signing up.

“It takes a person of uncommon bravery to sign up for military service, dedicating one’s life to protecting the citizens of one’s country. We are all connected and dependent upon one another.”

Akinpelu said maintaining balance is of the utmost importance to her.

Mylifeassugar added that being able to plan has helped her maintain balance despite her hectic schedule.

“I am proud to say that I enjoy being a planner and have always enjoyed picking my own schedule at my nursing job. This allows me to plan other engagements around my nursing schedule ahead of time,” she said.

“It is important to note that my career path requires one to be passionate about serving the people.

“Not all that glitters is gold, so my advice to you will be if you are passionate about people, empathetic, and interested in helping others, this career path may be right for you.”
