Anthony Ebuka Victor, the Nigerian singer better known as Victony, has disclosed that he has never performed on stage without being drunk.

In an interview with the Behind The Prestige podcast, the ‘Soweto’ hitmaker admitted to relying on alcohol before his performances but revealed he is now making conscious efforts to live healthier.

He revealed that he has stopped smoking for a while and is also working on staying away from alcohol.

Victony also disclosed his plan to start performing without the influence of alcohol.

He described it as a “big challenge” while adding that he now wants to truly connect with his fans.

“Staying fit is a new habit. I started two months ago, and it’s been good,” he said.

“I haven’t smoked in a while, I’m trying to stay off alcohol as well. I’m trying to do this tour sober and it’s a big challenge.

“For the longest, I have never been on stage without drinking but I’m trying to see my fans with my eyes, connect with them truly. ”

Victony rose to fame a few years ago after collaborating with Mayorkun for ‘Holy Father’.

He is signed to Mainland Block Party, a record label owned by the Nigerian music executive Tobi Mohammed.

The singer was involved in a ghastly accident that left one dead and three injured in April 2021.

In 2023, Victony had described his accident as a “blessing in disguise”.
