Nigerian lady completes 100-hour talk show to set new record, awaits GWR certification

Amuda Mariam, the Nigerian lady better known as Mary Gold, has completed her 100-hour marathon to set a new Guinness World Record (GWR) for the longest television talk show.

The TV presenter commenced the 100-hour talk show on December 16. She concluded the nearly four-day quest on Wednesday evening.

The exercise was held at No 1, Taiwo Odekunle Street, off Coker Street, College Road, Ogba, Lagos.

Titled ‘Pep Talk with MaryGold’, Mariam hosted 100 guests on the talk show.

During the exercise, Mary Gold interviewed actors, actresses, CEOs, politicians, and many other dignitaries in Nigeria.

On Wednesday evening, Mary Gold took to Instagram to announce the completion of the 100-hour talk show.

She also shared videos and pictures from the studio where she held up a placard to celebrate the “successful attempt”.

Mary Gold said she added seven more hours to the 100 hours.

She described the stint has a “proof of dedication and hard work”.

“Just successfully completed the official attempt of the Guinness world records for the longest marathon television Talkshow . Thank u all,” she wrote.

“This moment is proof that with dedication, hardwork and God on your side, you can achieve absolutely anything you put your mind to! Don’t give up, don’t give in! The sky is only the beginning.”

Mary Gold earlier disclosed that she informed the management of the prestigious British reference book about the attempt.

The GWR is however yet to comment on her feat.

The current record for longest marathon talk show is held by Boris Tomašič, the Slovenian who hosted his show for 73 hours 23 minutes — from September 24 to 27, 2023.

Mary Gold is now among the growing list of Nigerians who have attempted to set new world records since the beginning of 2023.
