Jane Dolapo Balogun, the mother of Wizkid, has been laid to rest in Lagos.
Jane passed away on August 18. The cause of her death was, however, not disclosed.
On Thursday, the Balogun family held a wake keeping at the Balmoral Hall, Federal Palace Hotel in Lagos, to honour Jane.
During the procession, Wizkid, visibly heartbroken and almost in tears, was seen holding a candle alongside his siblings.
The singer was also seen being consoled by family members.
Jane’s funeral service took place on Friday at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), City of David, Victoria Island.
Born on July 14, 1957, Jane is survived by Muniru Olatunji Balogun, her husband and four children.
Her children are Yetunde Balogun, Omolara Osunkoya, Olubusayo Balogun, and Ayodeji ‘Wizkid’ Balogun.
Wizkid, born in Surulere on July 16, 1990, grew up in a polygamous home with a Muslim father and a Christian mother.
In a 2012 radio interview with Tim Westwood, Wizkid revealed that his father has three wives.
Known for his deep affection for his mother, the singer expressed this through the his 2014 song ‘Mummy Mi’, which he dedicated to mothers worldwide.
The track featured heartfelt praise for Jane who he vowed to shower her with life’s finest pleasures.
