Davido, the Afrobeats singer, has extended his condolences to Wizkid, his colleague, following the death of the latter’s mother.
Jane Dolapo Balogun, Wizkid’s mother, passed away in the early hours of Friday.
The cause of her death was not disclosed.
In a post via Instagram, Davido said that he is praying for Wizkid.
The singer added that the feelings of sadness will only gradually fade over time.
“Praying for you my brother @wizkidayo. Sadness flies away on the wing of time,” he wrote.
In January, Wizkid surprised fans by announcing a tour with Davido.
The announcement came as a surprise to many fans on social media as a result of their past rivalry.
The tour was later postponed by Wizkid in March due to unforeseen logistic issues.
Wizkid also demonstrated support when Davido released ‘Timeless’, his fourth studio album, by encouraging his fans to stream the project.
On April 1, Davido mentioned that he frequently communicates with Wizkid and hinted at a possible collaboration.
“I believe that Wiz and I will likely release a song together and embark on a tour,” the singer said.
“I want to acknowledge my brother; he contacts me nearly every week to see how I’m doing. Big shout-out to Wiz.”
