A lady named Ego Okoye has confessed that she was paid to defame Eniola Badmus, the Nigerian actress.
In a viral video on social media, Ego accused the actress of being a professional pimp who connects ladies to politicians.
She alleged that Badmus ran a prostitution syndicate with a special preference for ladies who had gone under the knife.
The film star had last Wednesday cautioned the persons fabricating lies against her reputation to “tread carefully”.
“Trend carefully. Won ti je Badoskyy leti lol. Set Awon ko gbo nkankan. Zero answering,” Eniola wrote on Instagram.
However, in a new development on Sunday, a video shared on Badmus’s YouTube page showed Oge in police custody at an undisclosed location.
While explaining herself, Ego said a friend proposed to give her N200,000 to defame the actress.
She also apologised to the actress, adding that she did it to pay her rent.
“One of my friends said if I should come out and talk about miss Eniola Badmus, he was going to send me N200,000 because I told him about my rent,” she said.
“So I am so sorry. I just did it because of the money. I was so desperate to pay my house rent.”
Reacting to Ego’s apology, Badmus asked why she decided to ruin her reputation.
The actress added that Ego cannot be sorry because they are both going to court.
“Ego, how far now, wetin I do you? Nothing, you just decided to spoil my name. You cannot be sorry, we dey go court o,” she said in pidgin English.
