She also accused Paul Ekwe, her husband who happens to be a pastor, of “sleeping with church members”.

The clergyman, who filed for the dissolution of his marriage to Chinwe on Monday, had alleged a plot to kill him.

He also accused his wife of turning their kids against him, alleging that she married one of them off without his knowledge.

“My wife is planning to kill me so she can remarry,” he said while begging the court to end the 28-year-old union.

Describing his wife as stubborn and quarrelsome, Paul said: “Our marriage is full of fights and quarrels. Chinwe makes my home uncomfortable and my life unbearable. She refused to obey my orders but does things in her way.”

In response to the petitioner’s plea, Chinwe, who is aged 49, alleged that her husband sleeps with members of their church.

The evangelists also claimed that Paul was in the habit of molesting women, both single and married.

Chinwe accused her husband of defaming her character by telling people that she was planning to kill him.

According to her, Paul got the police to arrest her, alleging that she destroyed his church and stole his N5 million naira.

“I care for him both physical and spiritual but he still chose to be flirting around with different women. He even brought a married woman home as a wife and chased me out of our matrimonial home,” she told the court.

“What do I stand to gain if I killed the father of my seven children; he is lying against me just because he wanted to marry another woman which he had done.

“My husband is uncaring. I shouldered his responsibilities but he spends money, buys foodstuffs for concubines.”

The mother of seven also begged the court not to grant her husband’s wish for the dissolution of their marriage, pointing out that she still loved him despite his “adulterous acts”.

After hearing from both parties, Adeniyi Koledoye, the court’s president, adjourned the case until January 19 for judgement.
