The nationwide blackout experienced on Wednesday with respect to the industrial action of the National Union of Electrical Employees (NUEE) has provoked reactions on the Nigerian Twittersphere.
The NUEE had embarked on a nationwide strike over the failure of the federal government to dialogue with the union to resolve the lingering issues in the sector.
There were also reports that the blackout was as a result of the industrial action by electricity workers.
Despite the suspension of the strike on Thursday, there was still no light across the country, prompting many Nigerians to take to social media platforms to register their annoyance.
“Everyone is shouting Nepa, PHCN and #Blackout up and down, but the truth I that if Nepa didn’t announce that they were going on strike, we won’t have even known. It will just be like the regular light blackouts we experience regularly,” a Twitter user said.
“Dear NEPA or PHCN or whatever you’re called, You said you’re on strike for reason(s) best known to you abi? No wahala, just know that I’m also going to be on strike on your payment this month. I can’t be paying for your silly #blackout,” another user said.
