Lady Gaga, during a visit to young members of the LGBT community in New York, revealed a deep secret she’s kept hidden for years.
The ‘Born this way’ singer says she suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder.
In the video, Gaga revealed that she suffers from the debilitating mental illness at Harlem’s Ali Forney Center for homeless LGBT youth.
She had visited the center to share her struggles with mental illness.
“My own trauma in my life has helped me to understand the trauma of others,” Gaga said in an interview with the ‘Today’ show.
“I told the kids today that I suffer from a mental illness. I suffer from PTSD. I’ve never told that to anyone before, so here we are.”
“Meditation helps me to calm down. I don’t have the same kinds of issues that you have, but I have a mental illness and I struggle with that mental illness every day so I need my mantra to help keep me relaxed.”
Lady Gaga later took to social media to share a video, saying “I shared one of my deepest secrets”.
