Nigerians are extremely fashionable and almost everyone from these parts endeavour to invest some degree of effort into appearing stylish.

This knack for fashion transcends both the old, middle-aged and young.

Today, our spotlight beams on Nigerian women over the age of 50, who are still radiating grandeur and high fashion glamour despite their age.

Here are eight of such fabulous ladies.

Nigeria’s “Most Beautiful Girl” in 1991, Adenike Osinowo is an entrepreneur, television show host and style icon.

She has featured prominently in the beauty and fashion world in the last few decades.

Osinowo is one of the select few who has stayed at the top of their game for such a long time.

A thoroughbred business tycoon, Folorunsho Alakija is the group managing director of Rose of Sharon group. She’s also the executive vice-chairman of Famfa Oil limited.

One of the most recognised women in the world, Alakija’s fashion savvy has remained consistent over decades of prominence in the public space.

Another sexagenarian who stupefies younger generation with her great love of fashion is Florence Ita Giwa.

A celebrated journalist, Adesuwa Onyenokwe is a stylish lady who can pass for a 40-year old.

She is the publisher of Today’s Woman, a magazine which heavily publishes a lot of fashion content.

Adesua has graced several red carpet events in stunning, neck-turning dresses.

Nkiru Anumudu is the wife of a businessman and chairman of Globe Motors, Willie Anumudu.

She has given no room for age to become a barrier to her love of daring and sometimes outlandish fashion.

Abike Dabiri is a Nigerian politician and veteran journalist who’s often elegantly clad.

“I go for nice and timeless pieces. Moreover, I am a perfume collector and love to mix and blend whatever I put on”.

“I have a few Ankara fabrics that are elegantly sewn by my designers. For suits, I buy them whenever I travel abroad, but I am an advocate of indigenous designing. For shoes and bags, I will confess that I am not a designer freak but I am comfortable in low heels. For bags I love Gucci”.

Lawyer and businesswoman, Yemisi Wada is the ex-wife of Femi Fani-Kayode, a former minister of aviation.

Elegant and fabulous are two adjectives that can be aptly used to described Yemisi’s style.
