The head honcho of Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram, Threads, and WhatsApp, underwent surgery to replace a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) sustained during sparring.

An ACL injury occurs when there is a sudden twisting or hyperextension of the knee, often during activities that involve quick changes in direction, jumping, or landing.

Zuckerberg took to Instagram to share photos wherein he is seen on a hospital bed with his left leg bandaged and in a supportive leg brace.

He said that the surgery was needed after tearing his ACL while training for the competitive MMA fight slated for early next year.

The 39-year-old tech mogul also expressed gratitude to the medical professionals who performed the surgery and the entire team involved in his care.

“Tore my ACL sparring and just got out of surgery to replace it. Grateful for the doctors and team taking care of me,” he wrote.
