While entertaining the audience, Currency recalled how he had performed at Akala’s campaign rallies back in 2011.

He said the show promoter during the campaign was fond of delaying his payments, adding that sometimes he would wait for up to three days before he got paid.

The singer said in a bid to get his money, he confronted the then-governor in his house about the delayed payments.

He said Akala demanded an explanation for his outburst. He said after explaining that he was owed N500,000 and had not been paid yet, the then-governor thereafter asked Kemi Akala, his wife, to be in charge of his payments for the rest of the campaign.

Yul Edochie, the Nigerian actor, May, his estranged wife, resumed their heated online dispute last week.

On January 2, Yul reacted to May’s New Year’s post — reflecting on 2023 — which she said came with “too many adversities and misfortunes”.

He also accused his estranged wife of having breast enlargement surgery in the same year without his consent.

The actor cautioned his first wife against manipulating public opinion on social media to foster resentment towards him.

Yul also claimed May “filed for divorce but refused to return the bride price”.

But in her reaction, Rita Edochie, the ace Nigerian actress, slammed Yul for asking for a refund of the bride price he paid when he married May.

Rita, who is married to Tony Edochie, a younger brother to Pete Edochie, argued that May has no right to return the bride price Yul requested, adding that the matter is still in court.
