Yul Edochie, the actor, has urged Nigerians not to protest against the economic hardship in the country.
Recently, there have been reports that some Nigerians, under various bodies, are planning a nationwide protest between August 1 and 10 against the economic hardship particularly the rising cost of living in the country.
The National Orientation Agency (NOA) also said it had identified the sponsors of the proposed nationwide protest and the locations where it may happen.
Weighing in on the matter via a post on his Instagram page on Friday, the controversial film star implored citizens to be patient instead with the current administration.
He argued that the mission of protest is usually not achieved due to the vandalization that tends to occur.
Edochie also assured that the present administration “will make things right”.
“I acknowledge the hardships. Protest is not the answer. People take advantage of protests to break into other people’s shops, steal, destroy properties, hurt and kill innocent Nigerians who are already going through a lot,” he wrote.
“In the end, the aim of the protest will be defeated. Remember what happened during End Sars.
“Protest is not the answer. Let’s be patient. Let’s keep speaking out and doing all we can to help out.
“President Tinubu listens and he’s doing all he can to put make things right. Fellow Nigerians, let’s be patient.”
The actor has been known to be a staunch supporter of President Bola Tinubu.
In 2023, Edochie declared his love for the president while describing himself as an “Asiwaju baby”.
“Asiwaju boy. 100% unapologetically. I love Tinubu @officialBAT. I believe in him and I’m praying for him to succeed,” he said.
