Yomi Fabiyi, a Nollywood actor, has dismissed rumours of the death of Babatunde Omidina, a veteran movie star, better known as Baba Suwe.
There were rumours on social media in the early hours of Friday that the veteran Yoruba actor had died.
But in a short video shared on his Twitter page, Fabiyi dismissed the claims, revealing that he just spoke with him a few minutes ago.
Fabiyi wondered why anyone would derive joy in peddling falsehood about the death of others when they are still alive.
“I want to use this medium to dispel the rumour circulating. It is pretty unfortunate that I have to still come out and do this again. I don’t really understand what perpetrators of such falsehood on social media gain by doing that,” he said.
Baba Suwe is ALIVE, stop spreading death rumour. Very unfair, less human and unethical. Refrain pls. pic.twitter.com/5GzFN9sgdE

“It is not right, knowing fully well the status of the person in question. Please desist from doing such. Baba Suwe is alive, hale and hearty. Please stop doing this nonsense. I just spoke with him less than two minutes ago and he is doing fine. He asked me to pray for you and to stop such act.”
This is not the first time rumours of Baba Suwe’s death will surface on social media. Bolaji Amusan, Nigerian comedian better known as Mr Latin, had last year discredited claims that the actor had died.
The actor is believed to be battling an undisclosed illness and had in February 2019 solicited for financial support to enable him to travel abroad for medical attention.
