Wizkid and Tems have won the ‘Best Collaboration’ category at the 2021 Soul Train Awards for ‘Essence’, their hit single.
The song, which rose to number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in October, was nominated for three categories at the award ceremony which was held at Apollo Theater, New York, on Sunday.
The track, which is off ‘Made In Lagos,’ Wizkid’s fourth album, however, lost the ‘Song of the Year’ and ‘Video of the Year’ prizes to ‘Leave the Door Open’ by Silk Sonic.
In the same vein, ‘Made In Lagos’, the Grammy award-nominated album, was also bested by Jazmine Sullivan’s ‘Heaux Tales’ in the ‘Album of the Year’ category.
Wizkid and Tems were not present at the award presentation as they were on the other side of the Atlantic in the United Kingdom performing in front of a sold-out 02 Arena.
