Wizkid, the award-winning Nigerian singer, has announced a potential release date for a new project — his first for the year 2024.
The ‘Money and Love’ hitmaker took to his Instagram story to hint that he will be putting out ‘RRR’ on October 1, Nigeria’s Independence Day.
“On the day of independence, the truth shall set us free. RRR,” he wrote, alongside photos of himself in the studio.
‘RRR’ is reportedly one of the tracks off ‘Morayo’, the singer’s forthcoming sixth studio album.
Wizkid earlier described the album as a tribute to his late mother.
“It pays the utmost respect to my mother. I’ve named it my mum’s name,” he said.
The singer lost Jane Dolapo Balogun, his mother, in August 2023. She was buried in October of the same year.
The 34-year-old is however yet to announce the album’s release date.
Wizkid, born Ayodeji Balogun, gained prominence in 2011 when he released his debut album ‘Superstar’.
He has released four additional albums including, ‘Ayo (Joy)’ in 2014, ‘Sound From The Other Side’ in 2017, ‘Made In Lagos’ in 2020, and ‘More Love, Less Ego’ in 2022.
The singer is considered among Nigeria’s biggest artistes in contemporary times with a plethora of awards for his craft.
