Jane Dolapo Balogun, the mother of Wizkid, the award-winning Nigerian singer, has passed away.
Sunday Are, Wizkid’s longtime manager, confirmed to TheCable Lifestyle that Jane died in the early hours of Friday.
The cause of her death was, however, not disclosed.
The singer was born in Surulere, on July 16, 1990. Born Ayo Balogun, Wizkid grew up in a polygamous home with a Muslim father and a Christian mother.
In a 2012 radio interview with Tim Westwood, Wizkid revealed that Muniru Olatunji Balogun, his father, has three wives.
The singer is known to be very fond of his mum.
In 2014, Wizkid released ‘Mummy Mi’, a song off his ‘Ayo’ album. The song was dedicated to mothers across the world.
The singer praised Jane for all the joy she gave to him. He also promised to spoil her with the finest things in life.

The Davido Music Worldwide (DMW) record label head honcho said he met her “at the airport”.
He also revealed that he carried her bag in the process, adding that his gesture made people around the airport “know she is a first-class citizen”.
“Such an amazing woman … God bless you ma …. the way I was carrying mommy’s bags today at the airport .. dem know say nah first class citizen,” he said.
