Wizkid headlined the Glastonbury Festival’s Other Stage, performing to an audience of 210,000.
The 2023 Glastonbury Festival is being held from June 21 to 26 for its annual five-day event in Somerset, England.
Wizkid took to the festival’s “Other Stage” on Friday to deliver some thrilling performances off his catalogue of hits.
Among the songs the Afrobeats singer performed are ‘Essence’, ‘One Dance’, and ‘Ojuelegba’, amongst others.
The Other Stage, regarded as Glastonbury’s second stage, is rooted in the expansion of the festival in the late 1980s.
Wizkid performed from around 10:30 pm to 11:45 pm, making him the first African headliner on the stage.
In 2022, Burna Boy, the Afrofusion star, performed on Other Stage, albeit with Megan Thee Stallion as headliner.
Wizkid has amassed considerable fame in global music, setting him out among Nigeria’s pop poster boys.
In November 2022, Wizkid released ‘More Love, Less Ego’ which became his fifth album after weeks of teasing.
The singer’s four other studio albums include ‘Superstar’ released in 2011, ‘Ayo’ in 2014, ‘Sounds From The Other Side’ in 2017, and ‘Made In Lagos’ from 2020.
‘Made In Lagos’ got two nominations at the 2022 edition of the Grammy Awards.
In January, the singer revealed he was going to tour with Davido, an equally talented Nigerian hitmaker.
