Mixed reactions have trailed the federal government’s suspension of the Ruga initiative it proposed to resolve the clashes between farmers and herdsmen.

Controversy had trailed the project since it was announced in June. While some governors welcomed it, others had said it could lead to more attacks on communities.

Following its suspension, Nigerians took to Twitter to register their various opinions as regarding the Ruga initiative.

While some applauded the federal government for listening to the cry of the masses, others expressed disgruntlement; demanding that the initiative be abolished and not suspended.

“We do not want you to suspend RUGA, we want you to CANCEL it! The suspension means you are postponing the evil day, cancel means it is NEVER coming back. If you want peace in this country RUGA must be CANCELLED and you must also CANCEL your Fulanisation and Islamisation policy,” one Twitter user said.

“RUGA suspension isn’t enough, that sh*t should be cancelled, abolished and forgotten and the N21Billion budgeted for it be invested in infrastructural development.” another user said.
