President Donald Trump says Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, his wife, “must pay” for their own security detail if they move to the United States.
The royal couple had relocated to the United States from Canada a few weeks ago — after leaving the United Kingdom.
Trump, however, took to his Twitter page on Sunday to disclose that despite being a “great friend” of the Queen of England, Harry and Meghan “must pay” for their own security details in the US.
“I am a great friend and admirer of the Queen & the United Kingdom. It was reported that Harry and Meghan, who left the Kingdom, would reside permanently in Canada,” he wrote.
“Now they have left Canada for the U.S. however, the U.S. will not pay for their security protection. They must pay!.”

Harry, the 35-year-old grandson of Queen Elizabeth II and sixth in line to the British throne, tied the knot with Meghan, an American actress, at Windsor Castle in May 2018.
In January, the couple announced their resignation as senior royals to pursue financial independence — a move that stirred heated controversies.
They were subsequently stripped of their royal titles, with the royal family also announcing it was “hurt” by their decision.
