Mr Macaroni, Don Jazzy and Erigga are among several Nigerian celebrities who reacted to the reversal of the ban on Twitter operations in the country.

In June 2021, the federal government announced the indefinite suspension of Twitter’s operation after the microblogging platform deleted tweets by President Muhammadu Buhari.

It had attributed the suspension to “the persistent use of the platform for activities that are capable of undermining Nigeria’s corporate existence”.

But on Wednesday, the government announced that the ban had been lifted. It also said that it had reached an amicable resolution with Twitter on various terms and conditions given to the micro-blogging platform.

In a Twitter post, Mr Macaroni taunted the government, asking if “they are tired of sustaining the ban”.

“Oh Oh… e don tire una? Welcome back ooo. You people banned yourselves not twitter. Na una go!! We never left,” he wrote in a mixture of English and Pidgin.

Joining the fray, Erigga attributed the federal government’s move to the 2023 general elections.
