Gerald Ifechi was on Sunday night eliminated from the Nigerian Idol season seven.
The singer, who had secured a golden ticket and made it to the top 12, gave a spectacular performance last week with his rendition of ‘Ifunanya’, a song by Psquare.
To get in the top 12, the vocalist had thrilled the audience with the cover of ‘Leave the Door Open’, a song by Silk Sonic, which won record of the year and song of the year at the 64th Grammy Awards.
Following his elimination, the top nine contestants, with backup from 121 Selah, a gospel choir, performed a cover of Cynthia Erivo’s ‘Stand Up’ — after which the nine contestants blessed the stage with their moving and individual performances.
