Davido, the award-winning Nigerian singer, teamed up with other artistes for a colourful performance at the 2022 World Cup draw on Friday.
The ‘OBO’ crooner joined Trinidad Cardona, the US musician, and Aisha, the Japanese R&B singer, to thrill fans in Doha, Qatar, where the draws were held.
The trio delivered a soulful rendition of ‘Hayya Hayya’ (Better Together), the official soundtrack for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
A total of 32 countries are expected to grace this year’s World Cup but only 29 have booked their spots at the tournament so far.
Two intercontinental play-off matches will take place in June, while in Europe one of Wales, Scotland or Ukraine will book their place in the tournament.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria failed to qualify for the World Cup after playing a 1-1 draw with the Black Stars of Ghana on Tuesday in Abuja.
This earned Ghana one of the five tickets for African representatives.
With numerous awards and recognition, Davido has established himself as a household name in the global music landscape.
In March, the ‘Assurance’ singer reflected on how he has continued to brace the odds despite numerous predictions that he would not go far as a musician.
“I was predicted to probably have one or two songs because my daddy has money. Some said ‘he’s going to do two or three songs and we’re going to push him out of the way,” he had said.
“But 11 years later, I defeated them and I’m not even 30 yet. So, the experience really touched me.”
