In the latest episode of The Honest Bunch podcast, the 45-year-old ‘Rara’ hitmaker recalled a pivotal moment from her youth.

Waje revealed she became pregnant at the age of 16, shortly after completing secondary school.

The singer said at the time, she faced rejection from both her daughter’s father and his family.

She said years later, all attempts to facilitate a reconciliation between her daughter and her father ultimately failed once her child turned 18

Reflecting on her life experiences, Waje stated unequivocally that she could not marry a man who is not successful, explaining that her stage in life dictates her requirements.

“I cannot marry someone who is not successful, and here is why: first of all, I am not in my 20s, so we are not growing together,” she said.

“A man leads. He leads by selling aspirations to me. I have to aspire to see him lead. So, success is part of it. Faith is part of it. Understanding the room and not showing up in the world angry is part of it because I am also doing the work.

The singer also stated that she would not consider marrying a younger man. She said her reason was rooted in her self-proclaimed pragmatic and maternal nature.

“We would have issues. I am very pragmatic. I sometimes have to hold my siblings, friends, and family members. Imagine if it were a husband, he would be tired. I will treat him like my child,” she added.
