Waje, Nigerian R&B singer, has announced she would be organizing the first ever Nigerian ‘bedroom musical concert’ themed after her second studio album ‘Red Velvet’.
The music event, which would be the songstress’ “first-ever owned concert”, has been scheduled to hold on September 1, at the Shell Hall, Muson Centre in Lagos.
According to the show’s organizers, ‘Red Velvet’ would showcase Waje’s critically acclaimed R&B album and “explore its passionate themes with a distinctively new burlesque story-telling style”.
Like a typical bedroom musical event, the organizers revealed that attendees are to expect “a full-blown bedroom musical from sensual, soulful lovelorn ballads to fierce energetic affirmations.”
Johnny Drille, an alternative musician signed to Mavin Records, leads the pack of stars billed for the concert. Also included are Nonso Bassey, Chike and Good girl LA amongst others.
The event would be hosted by Chigul, an actress and comedian.
Waje took to her Instagram account to express optimism about the upcoming show. She also said that she looks forward to having “a very intimate, passionate and loving experience” with her fans.
“I have wanted to do this for a long time, to sing my truth to the world, my way. My goal has been to have a very intimate, passionate experience with you! The stars have aligned and it’s finally time! Please join me,” she wrote.
The ‘Red Velvet’ album, released in December 2018, explores the songbird’s eclectic style and embodies tracks which span reggae and jazz alongside a concomitant touch of house music.
