In a night that will be remembered as a landmark for Ibadan’s entertainment scene, Afrobeats superstar Davido delivered a thrilling and unforgettable performance on Sunday.

The Obafemi Awolowo (Liberty) Stadium was transformed into a pulsating hub of music and energy as the Grammy-nominated artiste took the stage for his ‘5ive Tour’.

Davido masterfully captivated the 25,000-strong crowd with an energetic setlist that featured tracks from his critically acclaimed fifth studio album, alongside timeless fan favorites like ‘Aye’ and ‘Dami Duro’.

The atmosphere was electric, with the audience singing and dancing along to every word, creating a vibrant celebration of music and communal joy.

The evening was warmed up by a series of lively performances from rising stars. Former Big Brother Naija housemate Jason Jae, along with local talents Keanzo, Fabulous Pizzy, Dele Omo Woli, and Sade Blaq, kept the crowd buzzing and set the stage for the main event.

The concert’s significance was underscored by the presence of Seyi Makinde, Oyo state governor, and Ademola Adeleke, Osun state governor, who joined the thousands of fans in enjoying the spectacle.

Ahead of the show, the state announced the distribution of thousands of free tickets to young people across Oyo as part of Makinde’s commitment to youth empowerment and creative industry support.

“In line with Governor ‘Seyi Makinde’s unwavering commitment to youth empowerment and creative industry support, we are excited to announce that thousands of FREE TICKETS have been approved for young people across Oyo State to attend Davido’s “5ive Tour” in Ibadan,” the Oyo State Agency for Youth Development wrote via X.

“This initiative, driven through the Oyo State Agency for Youth Development, is more than just a concert it’s about giving our youths the chance to connect, celebrate, and express the vibrant energy that defines Oyo State.”

Overwhelmed by the reception, Davido took to X after the show to express his excitement and appreciation, writing simply, “IB CITY WOW!!!!”

The ‘5ive’ album tour began with a spectacular opening show in Akwa Ibom and is set to conclude with a grand finale in Lagos on December 25, although the official schedule indicates that the Lagos date may still change.
