In April 2021, the ‘Soweto’ hitmaker was involved in a ghastly accident that left one dead and three injured.

The singer underwent his first surgery in the same year.

In a recent interview on the Afrobeats podcast, Victony spoke about his health struggles following the accident.

The 23-year-old singer said he is still in the recovery phase and has done four surgeries since the incident that almost claimed his life.

Victory, who had earlier announced his upcoming North America tour, said he would do one more surgery after the tour.

He also revealed that he takes pain relievers before performing on stage.

“Honestly, I am blessed and the whole world can see. I’m still in the recovery phase but I’m still able to do this now. I’m about to go on tour,” he said.

“Thinking about last year, even up until recently, I’ve done four surgeries and after the tour, I am still going to do one more.

“But it’s still a blessing. Going to the hospital and seeing other people there but I go in and out and do my thing.

“I take pain relievers before I go on stage and I still record. I feel blessed and I thank God for his grace, it’s not by power. I’m not his favourite child so I don’t know why he is blessing me.”

In February 2023, the singer announced he would be taking a two-month break from music after undergoing his third surgery.

He had also described his accident as a “blessing in disguise”.
