Some students of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka (UNIZIK), have pleaded for financial support to save their colleague Francisca Chioma, who was reportedly kidnapped.

Chioma, a student of the science education department in the institution, was said to have been missing since April 5.

The student was said to have left Awka to attend the burial ceremony of a friend’s father in another community in Anambra state.

It was gathered that attempts to reach Chioma through her mobile phone proved abortive, as calls to her line were not responded to.

Friends of Chioma have taken to social media to reveal that the kidnappers are requesting a sum of N2 million before she can be released.

The victim’s friends solicited financial assistance from Nigerians for her to regain freedom.

Ariadne Veronica, one of Chioma’s friends, also shared the account details wherein the donations can be made.

“Today is the deadline they gave to bring 2M naira or they will kill her. Please, help @Francisca_Oma with the little or big that you have,” she wrote on X.

“So far, we’ve raised 350k Naira out of 2M naira. The deadline is today or they will har.m her tomorrow. Nothing is too small. Please, if there’s anyway you know you can help. Please, do,” another user wrote.

Efforts by TheCable Lifestyle to get Ikenganyia Anthony, Anambra police spokesperson, to comment on the matter did not materialise — as of the time of this report.
