Policemen have allegedly shot two students of Osun State University (UNIOSUN) while playing football in the Oke Baale area of Osogbo, on Saturday morning.
The policemen were said to have stormed the football pitch, shouting ‘Yahoo boys, Yahoo boys’ and subsequently opened fire on the students.
Punch reports that one of the students, Abiola Kazeem, was hit on the stomach and was rejected at two hospitals before being taken to LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Osogbo.
The second victim, Ibrahim, who was reportedly hit in the mouth by the bullet, is being treated at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital, Osogbo.
Saheed Afolabi, coordinator of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) in the south west, was said to have confirmed the incident.
Similarly, Folashade Odoro, police spokesperson in the state, is reported to have also confirmed the incident.
“The Commissioner of Police has directed that a full scale investigation should be conducted into the matter. Anybody who is responsible for the dastardly act will be brought to justice,” she was quoted to have said.
