Fifty-four students of the Osun State University (UNIOSUN) made first class honours in the 2016/2017 academic session.
Labode Popoola, the vice chancellor of the university, made this known at a news conference on Saturday at the university’s main campus, Osogbo.
Popoola said that the first class students and 1, 182 others would be awarded first degrees at the university’s convocation on April 6.
The vice chancellor said that 512 students made second class (upper division), 539, second class (lower division) and 129, third class.
He said that some projects embarked on by the institution would be inaugurated during the convocation.
“We shall be inaugurating buildings for the College of Health Science and Environmental Science, and a water factory,” he said.
According to him, a library building would also be inaugurated and named after the pioneer vice chancellor of the university, Sola Akirinade.
Popoola added that the university would honour some prominent scholars during the ceremony.
He said that the university would continue to produce students with academic excellence good character.
