‘Water and Garri’, the highly-anticipated film produced by Tiwa Savage, the Nigerian singer, is set for release on Prime Video on May 10.

The movie was jointly produced by Everything Savage and Unbound Studios.

Directed by Meji Alabi and filmed in Ghana, ‘Water and Garri’ tells the story of Aisha, an ambitious fashion designer.

Aisha returned to her native country following the loss of a family member after being away for 10 years in the United States.

She had to learn to live with her scars and confront the guilt she left behind while reconnecting with family, old friends, and her past love.

The project features several movie stars including Jemima Osunde, Mike Afolarin, and Andrew Bunting.

The movie title which originates from the singer’s 2021 EP sees the debut of the songstress as an actress and a lead cast.

It was earlier revealed that the film will be available across 240 countries.

Speaking about the project, Savage disclosed she had to take classes for two months to perfect her role in the movie.

“I have always wanted to do acting, acting was one of my first love before music. I got into music because I had a crush on a guy who is always around musicians. So I said yeah, forget acting let me just go into music,” she said.

“So this is a full circle moment for me, coming back into acting. Executive producing is like a dream for me. Acting is very difficult because you have to prepare. I had to take two months of acting classes to get into this particular role and for me it was hard to adjust back. It is fun to not be myself for a few weeks.”
