Charles Okpaleke, the Nigerian movie producer, has put out a trailer for his forthcoming film on Shina Rambo, the former kidnap kingpin.
In the trailer, Rambo, whose real name is Oluwasina Oluwagbemiga, is seen recounting his life as a notorious robber.
Rambo, who is now an evangelist, also details how he made a pact with the devil and carried out several deadly attacks on third mainland bridge in Lagos.
In a post accompanying the trailer, Okpaleke said the project is part of efforts to ensure Nigerians tell their own stories by themselves.
“We are committed to telling our Nigerian stories. We were privileged to interview a pastor who was once the famous armed robber that terrorized the South west in the 90s,” he wrote.
“He gave us a detailed explanation of how he started, the source of his spiritual powers and how his reign ended!! His name is Shina Rambo.”
Okpaleke had earlier revealed that he acquired the rights to produce the movie on Rambo.
The biopic, directed by Ramsey Nouah, is produced by Play Network Studios and Ramsey Films.
Rambo was known for his fetish ways and his belief in rituals and human sacrifices during his time as a notorious robber.
In November 2020, he had narrated various dreaded measures he took in search of occultic powers in the past.
After he secured freedom from prison during the regime of Olusegun Obasanjo, former president, he became a pastor and started to preach the gospel.
