Asake, the Afrobeats star, has teased a new documentary about his rise to stardom featuring the English actor Idris Elba as the voice behind the narrative.
The Grammy-nominated singer recently shared the documentary on social media.
The trailer showcases the inner city part of Lagos where he grew up. It also shows the iconic horse statues at Tafawa Balewa Square and Kakawa Street in downtown Lagos Island.
The footage also captures moments from Asake’s ongoing ‘Lungu Boy’ world tour.

The documentary title was not revealed. There are however insinuations it may be ‘Lungu Boy’ — the title of Asaka’s third album — which loosely translates to a ghetto boy.
The Afrobeats artiste recently sold out his show at London’s highly acclaimed 20,000-capacity O2 Arena for the second time.
The achievement sees Asake join the likes of Wizkid and Davido, who have sold out the O2 Arena more than once.
Born Ahmed Ololade, Asake rose to prominence in 2020 with his hit song ‘Lady’. The singer joined YBNL, the record label owned by Olamide, in February 2022.
He has released three studio albums, ‘Mr Money With The Vibes’ (2022), ‘Work of Art’ (2023) and ‘Lungu Boy’ (2024). He has also received a plethora of awards and nominations for his talent.
Asake was nominated in the Best African Music Performance’ category at the 2024 Grammys for ‘Amapiano’, his hit song with Olamide, the rapper.
Elba, on the other hand, is a multiple award-winning British actor, rapper, singer, and DJ.
