Toyin Aimakhu, a Nollywood actress, has berated Daddy Freeze, a radio presenter, over the imposition of his standpoint on tithing on Nigerians.
Daddy Freeze has for the past few years been vocal about his opposition to the payment of tithes and has been consistently critical of pastors.
Speaking on Friday at the Handle It Africa social media conference in Lagos, Aimakhu urged the controversial Cool FM presenter to embrace his truth and let others do the same.
The pair spoke on a panel tagged ‘Can Celebrities Influence Decisions’.
“You might not believe in tithe but I believe in tithe. The truth you want to tell people may be different from what I want to tell people,” the actress told Daddy Freeze.
“Whatever you believe in, believe in it. Don’t impose it on other people.
“Use your own social media the way you want to use it, let me use mine the way I want — in a positive way. Make your choice. I love you but I might not accept what you’re saying.”
Daddy Freeze, not one to back down when confronted on the topic of tithing, said: “I’m here to tell you how it is. I’m here to enlighten you.
“The decisions we take today are going to affect our children who will be in poverty tomorrow. This is the time for celebrities to actually tell people the truth.
“You can choose to shop in Gucci or you can choose to shop in a local manufacturer, it’s your choice — but you cannot choose to drive on the wrong side of the lane.”
Daddy Freeze added that “Jesus and his disciples did not collect tithe”, saying it(tithe) “is good only for those that collect it”.
Bolanle Olukanni, a television presenter who was also on the panel, reacted by saying, “I do not agree with Daddy Freeze but I think we need to ask more questions.
“Our generation; we were not brought up to ask questions or challenge the status quo. With that said, we need to challenge what Daddy Freeze is saying.”
The radio presenter was also tackled by a few members of the audience who accused him of “hasty generalisation.”

It is OK for tithe-teachers to impose their opinions on others, but is is wrong for others to impose their opinions on tithe-teachers. Yeah. Real nice.
If you study with understanding, Jesus did not condemn tithing-Mat23:23, First Christians did not-Heb7;1_9. Pastors use not tithe for their personal needs, and any doing so is doing that on his own detriment and any that does not pay his tithe is disobeying God. Please, let us be careful when we interpret and should allow the Spirit of God help us.
Please tell them o. Jesus did not condemn tithing he only said tithing without love is useless. Luke 11:42
Tithing was not emphasised in the new testament because the church members gave more than 10% by providing for orphans and widows. That’s why some people operate by giving more than 10% which is another level of giving. Freeze can argue there was no tithing in the new testament but he is failing to identify that the new testament operated beyond 10%.
