Tonto Dikeh, the Nigerian actress, has credited her faith for delivering her from long-standing battles with destructive anger, masturbation, and addiction.
Speaking during a recent Sunday service at the Streams of Joy International Church in Abuja, Dikeh framed her story not merely as a testimony but as an act of thanksgiving.
The actress disclosed that for years, she was plagued by what she described as “demonic anger” — an intense rage that fuelled her but ultimately devastated her life and relationships.
The award-winning movie star revealed that she only recently discovered genuine peace at the age of 40.
Dikeh also spoke about a 27-year addiction to smoking, which she began at age 13. She issued a caution to parents, urging them to shield their children from unhealthy habits.
“Standing before you here is a girl who is a chimney, constant smoke. That is what the devil did to me, I smoked since I was 13. I will tell you this as a parent: if you are a smoker or you do something that is not right, keep it away from your children,” she said.
“Do not take it near your children because the devil can take as little as that habit to inhabit the lives of your children. I started smoking because my dad is a smoker. I have been smoking since I was 13, and it has been 27 years since I started smoking.”
Her testimony extended to other vices, including alcohol abuse, where she admitted to consuming two large bottles of spirits daily, often to the point of passing out.
Dikeh also revealed a lifelong spiritual battle with sexual immorality, including masturbation and recurring sexual experiences in her dreams since childhood. She attributed her deliverance to a prayer conference in Ghana.
“You are also looking at an alcoholic, I would drink, and I would pass out. I did not care who was looking. In fact, I hated going out because of these habits. I did not want people to see it or know about it. I would drink, and I would be so drunk. I am not saying four cups of alcohol, I am saying two bottles of alcohol per day, and they were not little bottles. But today, it is broken,” she continued.
“You see, God healed me from masturbation, too. It is something I have always known myself to do in the dream, to have sexual intercourse in the dream, ever since I was a child, longer than I can remember. It is one of my first memories of life. After the Ghana prayer conference, I realised that the weak man who held me captive all my years in my dream, assaulting my body, taking advantage of who I am, the grace and the anointing upon my life, ran away.”
The actress recently opened up on how Gd delivered her from sexual immorality and anger.
