Timaya, the Nigerian dancehall singer and songwriter, has bragged about his “good looks”.

In an Instagram post on Thursday, the ‘Sweet Us’ hitmaker showed off his physical transformation, sharing two striking photos that showcase his growth over the years.

Timaya argued that his handsome features were previously obscured by lack of money.

“I was not ugly, I was only broke abi I go lie for you. Throwback Thursday,” he wrote in pidgin English.

Born Inetimi Odon, Timaya rose to fame in 2005 with ‘Dem Mama’, his hit single.

He founded DM Records Limited, a label that houses music stars like Patoranking and Runtown.

Since then, he has established himself as a household name in the music industry.

Timaya has also delivered several studio albums. The albums include ‘True Story’ (2007), ‘Gift And Grace’ (2008), ‘De Rebirth’ (2010) and ‘LLNP Long Life N Prosperity’ (2011).

Others include ‘Upgrade’ (2012), ‘Epiphany’ (2014), ‘Gratitude’ (2020) and ‘Gladiator’ (2024).

Recently, Burna Boy listed Timaya as one of the artistes who influenced his career positively.

In February, Timaya opened up about his struggle with drug abuse, specifically Molly, which he was introduced to during the COVID-19 lockdown.

He revealed how the drug affected his health, weight, and finances.
