On ‘This Is Not  A Feminist Poem’, Wana Udobang, former inspiration FM OAP, wears the cloak of champion and assumes the role of the mouthpiece of the female folk — both old and young.

The deeply enthralling spoken word poem lays bare the short end of the stick women are subjected to by all and sundry in the society.

It tackles inequality, marginalisation, domestic abuse and other issues women of all ages have to endure.

The poem is one of the tracks on her new spoken word album ‘In Memory of Forgetting’.

Udobong quit Inspiration FM in September 2015 after spending six years with the radio station.

Since then, she has been involved several arts-related projects and has constantly advocated for women’s rights and social injustice.

Although Udobong maintains that “This is Not a Feminist Poem… It is not a rant or a call to action, it is not a call for your attention,” her thought-provoking words and the power they wield makes it every bit what she says it is not.
