‘The One For Sarah’, the much-awaited movie on emotional abuse and self-discovery, is set to hit cinemas across the country on October 28.
The movie producers announced the release date in a statement sent to TheCable Lifestyle on Monday.
The romantic drama, directed by Lyndsey Esejuku, and produced by Louis Okocha features top movie stars including Beverly Naya, Bimbo Ademoye, Daniel Etim Effiong, Bucci Franklin, Uzor Arukwue, and Adunni Ade.
It follows the story of Sarah, a fashion designer, who overcomes emotional abuse, rediscovers her value, and finds love again.
According to the film producers, the project became imperative to spotlight the emotional abuse suffered by women in relationships.
“The movie is focused on how women go through emotional abuse in intimate relationships, and how it is being under-reported and perceived by many in Nigerian society as an insignificant issue since it is not physical. Also, how our society advises women to bear it in silence,” the statement reads.
Speaking on the project, Okocha, who works with Trino Motion Pictures, said the project is an uplifting story, adding that the audience will find it relatable.
“We are glad to be able to do our bit in shining light on the topic of abusive relationships considering how rampant it has become in our society. It is an uplifting story, one that the audience will find relatable”.
