Spyro, the Nigerian singer, has addressed his colleagues amid the ongoing nationwide protest.
On Thursday, some Nigerians commenced a protest against economic hardship and soaring inflation in various parts of the country.
The protests have been dubbed ’10 Days of Rage’ with the hashtag #EndBadGovernance.
Since the protests began, many celebrities have remained unusually silent, while some persist in posting entertainment-related content.
In a post on Instagram, the singer said it is “insensitive to post anything entertainment” during a national crisis.
He said he understands the struggles faced by the average person and urged everyone with a platform to speak out.
Spyro added that he hopes the collective outcry will lead to meaningful action from the government to improve the country’s situation.
“I personally think it is quite insensitive to post anything entertainment rn… The Country is bleeding and we all are affected whether or not we agree to that fact,” he wrote.
“I am very much affected. I particularly feel the pain of the average man and I don’t intend to keep mute so I am calling on everyone with a platform to speak up…
“I am hoping that the government will see our tears this time and take actual steps for the betterment of the people #GODBLESSNIGERIA”.
Spyro rose to prominence after releasing the hit song ‘Who Is Your Guy’ in November 2022.
He has received several recognitions for his talent.
