Spotify hosted a pop-up listening experience in Lagos to celebrate the release of Davido’s album.
Davido put out ‘Timeless‘, a 17-track studio album, on March 31 after much anticipation from among fans.
To celebrate the release, Spotify hosted the singer’s fans at a listening event on Saturday, April 1, in Lagos.
The event featured art installations chronicling Davido’s career and putting the new album in context.
With music policy determined by a team of disc jockeys, fans sang along to their favourite tracks off ‘Timeless’.
The pop-up event showcased a merch collaboration with Severe Nature, a Nigerian urban streetwear brand.
In attendance at the event were The Plug’s Tobi Mohammed and Sony Music West Africa’s Princess Okereugo.
Away in the US on promotional duties, Davido sent a video message thanking the attendees for their support.
As part of the celebration, Spotify promoted ‘Timeless’ on a billboard in New York’s iconic Times Square.
Davido’s album has work from a cast of producers, songwriters, guest artistes, and two of his label’s signees.
It features collaborations with Asake, Fave, Focalistic, Angelique Kidjo, and Skepta among other musicians.
‘Timeless’ is Davido’s fourth album, coming after ‘OBO’ (2012), ‘A Good Time’ (2019), and ‘A Better Time‘ (2020).
The singer earlier disclosed that concerts for the ‘Timeless’ album will be held in London, New York, and Lagos.
