Spice Girls, the prominent British music group, is set to drop an extended play (EP) to commemorate the 25th anniversary of ‘Wannabe’, their debut single.

The group, which comprises Melanie Brown, Melanie Chisholm, Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell and Victoria Beckham — broke the news in an Instagram post on Monday.

Acclaimed to be the biggest selling girl band of all time, Spice Girls said the EP, christened ‘Wannabe 25’, is scheduled for digital release on July 9 while that of limited-edition vinyl and cassette is billed for July 23.

The project, which is the group’s first body of work since 2007, features the original single and a remix by Junior Vasquez that was a bonus track on ‘2 Become 1’, the original demo.

It will also feature ‘Feed Your Love’, a previously unreleased track from their hit project.

‘Wannabe is 25! To celebrate we’re releasing a limited edition vinyl and cassette, featuring: Wannabe (original single), Wannabe (Junior Vasquez remix edit), Wannabe (demo) and previously unreleased track ‘Feed Your Love'” it wrote.

“The EP will be released digitally on the 9th of July, with the vinyl and cassette following on the 23rd July.”

The development comes as the band also launched the #IAmASpiceGirl campaign to enable fans to share their fond memories of the group.

Originally released on July 8, 1996, ‘Wannabe’ shot the group into the global limelight and has since snagged more than 1.3 million CD singles and download sales.
