Hollywood actress Sofia Vergara, has maintained the position of the world’s highest-paid TV actress for the sixth year in a row, according to Forbes.
Vergara banked $41.5 million before taxes and fees in the 12 months to June 1, proving that old-fashioned broadcast television is still the biggest money maker.
The ‘Modern Family’ star earned $15 million more than Kelly Cuoco from the ‘Big Bang Theory’, placing the latter on the number two spot with $26 million.
Vergara’s many endorsements and licensing deals also had a lot to do with her high earnings.
The actress’s Emmy-nominated role as Gloria Delgado-Pritchett accounts for roughly a quarter of Vergara’s income, while more than half comes from licensing and endorsement deals with brands such as Head & Shoulders, Pepsi and CoverGirl amongst others.
Although Cuoco has a per-episode earnings of $1 million, which is more than two times Vergara’s ‘Modern Family’ paycheck, Cuoco doesn’t have nearly as many deals as the Colombian actress.
Earnings estimates are based on data from Nielsen, Box Office Mojo and IMDB, as well as interviews with industry insiders. All figures are pretax; fees for agents, managers and lawyers are not deducted.
Due to longer seasons, networks demand more time from their stars meaning salaries on these series can soar up to an estimated $1 million an episode.
