Simi says she supports cohabitation before marriage.
In a recent chat on the Tea With Tay podcast, the singer revealed that she opted to live with her husband before getting married.
She stated that living together allows one to see all sides of their partner, not just their best behaviour.
She added that while cohabitation does not have to be lengthy, it is important in laying a solid foundation for a lasting relationship.
“I used to go over to Adekunle Gold’s place for us to spend time together,” she said.
“I think that people who want to get married should live together for a little bit before they do that,” she said.
“Because I do not think you know someone that you are going to marry until you cohabit.
“The way someone is when they are outside in their best behaviour is different from how they are when they are cranky and they have not eaten or when they wake up in the morning or when they are snoring.
“When you live with someone you know all the sides to them, that is when you know if you can do forever with them.
“Millions of people have gotten married without living together. But I think it is a good idea to cohabit before marriage. It does not have to be for long.”
Simi released her debut studio album titled ‘Ogaju’ in 2008.
She has since continued to enjoy a positive reception in the music industry.
In 2019, she got married to Adekunle Gold, the singer.
The pair welcomed their first child together in June 2020.
