Simi, the Nigerian singer, has fired back at a critic who urged her to alter her musical style.
Following the release of ‘All I Want’, her latest single, an X user with the handle described Simi’s sound as “basic” and asked her to switch it up.
“Girl switch it up a bit… change your sound,” the user wrote.
“Your hubby changes his sound and it is amazing to see. Do the same, you are too good to be doing basic shit.”

In response, she angrily asked the critic if her last 10 songs sounded similar. The songstress also requested feedback on how she could improve.
“Tell me the last say… 10 songs I have put out and let us dissect. Which ones sound the same? Then tell me how your faves are doing it different/better than me,” she wrote.
“Or perhaps u want me to change my genre? Or I should use more lamba? Or is it my voice? It is too soft or sweet or sharp for you? I should swallow balloon for diversity? We are not fighting. I honestly want your feedback. Direct me. Help me Zeebaby.”
In another post, she urged the critics to listen to other artistes if they do not like her song.
She added that she is not competing with anyone and makes music out of love for the craft.
“If you do not like what I am selling, go and listen to the one you like,” she added.
“I am not dragging best with anybody. I make music because I f**king love it.”
Na the same ballad Adele dey sing all these days, her people no disturb am. E fi mi sile. If you don't like what I'm selling, go and listen to the one you like. Unless you don't have data. And if you don't have, owo e lo wa ku si.
