Simi, the Nigerian singer and songwriter, will release her fifth album ‘Lost and Found’ on July 5.
The ‘All I Want’ hitmaker announced the body of work via an Instagram post on Tuesday.
While sharing the album cover, she described the album as “a symbol of finding parts of myself again”.
Simi also said the new project will help her reconnect with her “passion for music, melodies and love stories”.
“For most of my life, I have enjoyed the privilege of knowing myself deeply, unwaveringly and truly. In more recent years, I have endured the discomfort of losing myself,” she wrote.
“Sometimes to make room for something else that I needed to be – other times, because I could not, for the life of me, find my way. I felt like a stranger to myself. This version of me has been the hardest one to look at in the mirror.
“Making this album is a symbol of finding parts of myself again and I hoped I hadn’t lost permanently. I don’t believe that we ever stop finding ourselves. If you’re willing to look there’s is always more. This is tribute to the things we continue to find and rediscover.
“When I sing, I do it first for me then for you. In this order, because I can’t give what I do not have. ‘Lost and Found’ is about me reclaiming my chemistry with music, melody and love stories.
“I hope you feel it too when you listen. I hope you enjoy it, regardless of the journey that brought it to you. Experience it, knowing that nobody bring you what I can, what I have, what I will. Lost and Found, the album, out July 5th 2024.”
Simi started her career as a gospel singer. She gained prominence in 2014 after putting out ‘Tiff’, a song nominated for The Headies 2015.
She signed a record deal with X3M Music in 2014 but left the label in 2019 following the expiration of her contract.
The singer launched her own record label Studio Brat. She has released several hit tracks including ‘Duduke’.
Simi is married to Adekunle Gold, who happens to be a singer. The union is blessed with a child.
