Chinedu Ikedieze, the Nollywood actor, has warned the public against imposters posing as him to defraud people.

In a recent Instagram post, Ikedieze shared a screenshot of a conversation between an impostor and a victim.

In the chat, the impostor demanded N200,000 from the victim while posing as Ikedieze. The scammer claimed they could not make transfers themselves.

The 46-year-old actor also cautioned the public to understand the new tactics employed by the impostors.

“Pls guys, everyone should be careful. These scammers are on rampage. They’ve devised another level of OBT. They now use pix of public figures as their DP and start calling or texting people within your circle,” he wrote.

“This post is a clear example of how they operate. Confirm every call or message before attaining to humanity. One.”

Last year, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) secured the conviction of Aiosa Kelvin Orhue, an impostor who posed as Fredrick Leonard, the actor, on a three-count charge bordering on love scam.

Aisosa was said to have impersonated the actor by using his identity to defraud Cheryldene Cook for N104 million as well as $26,020.

Orhue was sentenced to one year imprisonment with an option of a fine of N1,000,000.
