Disgust and angst have trailed the death of Kolade Johnson, a Lagos resident, who was killed when men of the anti-cultism unit of the state police command raided Onipetesi in the Mangoro area of Lagos on Sunday.
Nigerians flooded various social media platforms to express their anger and also call for the disbandment of the anti-robbery squad using different hashtags like #EndSARSNow, #JusticeForKolade, #EndPoliceBrutality.
This is even as Bala Elkana, spokesman of the Lagos police command, in a statement on Monday, said that the policemen involved in the death of Johnson have been arrested.
Celebrities were not left out as they took to social media to express their displeasure and pay their last respect to the deceased.
Bankole W wrote an open letter to President Muhammadu Buhari on Johnson’s death.
“Something has to be done, we can’t go on like this, #EndPoliceBrutality”, Sean Tizzle said.
“SARS needs to END now!!!! periodddddd #EndSARS” another celebrity said.
Here is how celebrities reacted:
