Khadija Sanusi, daughter of Muhammadu Sanusi II, the former Emir of Kano, has responded to a social media user’s tweet about her husband.
On April 18, Khadija and Abdulmutalib Shittu tied the knot in a glamorous ceremony in Kano.
Shittu, who is from Kwara state, is said to be of Fulani and Yoruba descent.
He is the former executive chairman of Kwara Geographical Information Services (KW-GIS).
Shittu is also the senior special assistant on geographical information service to AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Kwara state governor.
Celebrating the new couple, the user shared a photo from their wedding ceremony while describing Khadija’s husband as a “Yoruba man”.
“Daughter of former Kano emir Muhammadu Sanusi II, Khadija Yusrah Sanusi married a Yoruba man from Kwara,” the user wrote.
I guess I can now be referred to as “Mrs. Yoruba man from Kwara” https://t.co/28pzTDih39

Reacting to the X user’s post, the former emir’s daughter said people are free to describe her as the wife of a Yoruba man.
“I guess I can now be referred to as ‘Mrs. Yoruba man from Kwara’,” she wrote.
In 2020, Muhammadu Sanusi II, a sitting Emir of Kano, was deposed by Abdullahi Ganduje, the state governor, for “disrespecting lawful instructions.”
Sanusi served as the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) from 2009 to 2014. He was suspended by ex-President Goodluck Jonathan under controversial circumstances.
