Sabinus, the Nigerian skit maker, has reacted to the recent abduction of his father in Rivers state.

Last week, Sabinus’s dad was said to have been kidnapped by armed men at his residence in Port Harcourt.

A gun battle erupted in a clash between the local security team and the kidnappers, leading to the death of an officer.

Reacting in a post via his private Facebook page, Sabinus revealed that ransom was paid for his father’s freedom.

The skit maker, who did not reveal the amount demanded for the ransom, expressed gratitude for his ability to provide.

“Kidnappers wey go carry my papa still fit watch my video dey laugh. This life sha,” he wrote in pidgin English.

“But we bless God for providing unless how I wan pay ransom by now. E for be sorry I for dey hear. Thank you Lord.”

Born Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Ejekwu, Sabinus’ popularity has earned him notable awards and recognition.

Sabinus, also known as Mr Funny, has been featured in several Nollywood movies such as ‘Billionaire’s Bride’, ‘Man of War’ and ‘Dead Serious’.

At the 2022 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA), the skit maker was named ‘Best Online Content Creator’.

In the same year, he made his debut as Oga Sabinus at The Lighthouse event centre in London.
