‘Mad Over You’ singer Runtown has launched a record label called Soundgod Music Group.
Since the inception of his music career, the singer has often referred to himself as ‘the soundgod’.
The singer, real name Douglas Jack, recently held a launch party for the record label in Los Angeles, US.
He unveiled Soundgod Music Group amid an ongoing legal tussle with Eric Many Entertainment, his former record label.
The singer and Eric Many have been at loggerheads for the past few months over an alleged breach of contract.
In an injunction filed at a federal high court, Lagos, the label said the singer has been “deliberately breaching his contract”.
The label accused the singer of failing to fulfil his contractual obligations, recording an album without its consent, and performing at shows without approval.
Eric Many also claimed that Runtown owes millions after taking out loans on a luxury car and executing unauthorised collaborations which caused the label losses in royalties.
Much recently, the record label filed another lawsuit against the singer, claiming ownership of his stage name, and for monies owed.
Runtown, who postponed the release of his new single following the death of D’banj’s one-year-old son, was recently featured in the Gianni Versace Tribute Collection.
The ‘Energy’ singer has also launched a charity initiative called ‘Wana- We Are New Africa’.
